Student Winners of the Fun Slides STEM Contest!

It’s likely that you’ve heard about a new way to integrate learning and fun in one, intriguing way: STEM. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math, and schools all across America are teaching kids how to combine STEM into their daily lives! This allows them to make real-world connections to the curriculum they are learning in school.

The Fun Slides Skatepark team wanted to contribute to the STEM movement, so we hosted our 2nd Annual STEM Contest! For the contest, students had to write an essay explaining the important role of STEM in their futures. On April 24th, we chose three winners from the incredible submissions we received. The students who had the winning essays won their entire class a free STEM field trip at Fun Slides Skatepark! This is what these amazing winners had to say about STEM and their future:

“Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) is important for my future because I want to fix and sell cool cars like on car shows.  I have watched car shows since I was six-years-old, so I have a strong liking for cars.” – Alison B., Westview Elementary School

“Using science, technology, engineering, art, and math are important to my future because if I learn about them now, it will get me into a good college which will get me a good career.” – Gianna G., State Street Elementary School

“The future of STEAM is growing. We’re getting more and more advanced in STEAM. I like STEAM but I will have to use STEAM to help my career. The career I have chosen is to be a master chef.” – Danica P., Westview Elementary School
